There is no sadder site in cricket than a former colossus of the game, struggling for form, no longer able to achieve the incredible standards he's previously set himself. In such situations, it is often preferable for the player to call it a day, rather than tarnish the formidable reputation they've worked so hard to build over their career.
As such, and as much as it saddens me to say, after last night's substandard effort in the 20/20 between Australia and South Africa, I think it's clearly time for David 'Merry Melodies' Warner to announce his retirement from international cricket.
Farewell Merry Melodies. We shall treasure the memories.
